Stray, developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive, is a third-person adventure in which you play an ordinary cat. After a fall separates it from its family, the cat finds itself in a walled city lit by neon signs, populated only by robots who have built their own quiet society.

Exploration is at the heart of the game. You move the way a cat would: leaping between ledges, squeezing through gaps, climbing pipes and balconies. Early on you meet B-12, a small drone that becomes your companion, translates the robots' language and helps you carry items and solve puzzles. A few tense sequences ask you to run from small creatures, but the game never becomes a complex action title.

Many of the best moments are small ones: rubbing against a robot's legs, scratching a carpet, sleeping on a warm spot. The city is packed with detail and the story has a gentle mystery at its core. At around six hours, it is a focused, polished adventure that is easy to recommend to almost anyone.
