Botany Manor, developed by Balloon Studios, is a first-person puzzle game set in 1890 in a manor house in the English countryside. You play Arabella Greene, a retired botanist who is preparing a book about extraordinary plants that science has overlooked.
The puzzle structure is simple and elegant. Each seed you find comes with a mystery: what conditions does it need to grow? Answers are scattered around the house and gardens in letters, newspaper clippings, books and posters. You collect clues in your herbarium, then work out the right combination — temperature, soil, light, sound or other unusual triggers — to make the plant bloom.
There are no enemies and no way to fail, so the game is about calm observation and reasoning. As you move from room to room, the documents you read also reveal Arabella's story and the challenges faced by women in science at the time. It is a short, gentle game with a lovely atmosphere, ideal for a quiet evening.
